Notes
How long will this sauce keep for?
This sauce can be keep in the fridge for about two weeks, however the recipe is only 1 cup, so mostly I make and use dip fresh. For storage I add dipping sauces in a mason jar so that I can lid them easily and take them in and out of the fridge. If you use any ingredients without preservatives, such as for your mayo or ketchup, the sauce may not last as long.
How to make sauce Vegan
Ketchup- most ketchup brands, including Heinz and Hunt’s, are vegan.
Mayo- there are a lot of great tasting vegan mayo alternatives in stores nowadays, including Spectrum brand and Vegenaise that will work great replacing regular mayo.
Worcestershire sauce- use Cole’s brand or make your own vegan version by combining 2 tbsp. coconut aminos, ¼ tsp granulated mustard powder, ¼ tsp garlic powder, and ¼ tsp granulated onion powder.
How to make sauce Gluten-Free
Ketchup- most all ketchups found in grocery stores are gluten-free, so no worries here.
Mayo- usually gluten-free
Worcestershire sauce- French’s or Lea and Perrin’s (in the US only) brands are gluten-free
Tasting similar to traditional fry sauce, the garlic and pepper make this recipe bold while the real mayo and sweet taste of Ketchup make it a little sweet. There really are very few fast food restaurant recipes that come close to the real thing and this is one of them. Combine Canes Sauce with crispy chicken and golden fries for a completely winning family friendly dinner.
