15 Minute Mushroom Side Dish, white button mushrooms cooked in bacon grease and smothered with a delicious garlic butter cream sauce. Easy side dish, serve as an appetizer or tapas or simply pour over a steak or pork chop.
Add uncooked bacon to a skillet and cook until crispy. Remove pan from heat and drain on paper towels. Keep bacon grease in the pan.
Add minced garlic to the bacon grease and cook for 2 minutes until browned and fragrant.
Add butter, white button mushrooms, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
Season the entire skillet with salt and pepper. Heat to medium heat for 5-7 minutes, occasionally stirring until mushrooms are tender. Mushrooms will also cook and change to a golden brown color in this process.
Once mushrooms are done cooking, stir in heavy whipping cream and heat for 2 minutes until hot.
Crumble the bacon when cool.
Top the entire mushroom side dish with chopped fresh parsley and crumbled bacon. Serve butter mushrooms immediately
Best way to clean mushrooms. You may be asking yourself if you have to clean mushrooms. The answer is yes! Mushrooms are ground-bearing vegetables and typically come from the store with dirt. Sometimes rinsing does work, but I often find that dirt can stick to the mushroom's outer shell when it comes to whole mushrooms. If this is the case for you, use a damp paper towel (or damn cloth) to remove any dirt. Stand-alone Butter SauceAnd while this creamy garlic sauce makes these mushrooms the best deep flavored side dish ever, it's also fantastic when the mushrooms are replaced with mussels, shrimp, or even gnocchi!
