Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray it with cooking spray. Set it aside.
Prepare the Squash: Slice the spaghetti squash lengthwise (from top to bottom) with a sharp knife to create two even halves.
If the squash is hard to cut, poke it with a fork and microwave for 2-4 minutes, or until it's soft enough to cut. Be careful, as it can get very hot.
Remove Seeds: Use a spoon to scrape away and discard the seeds from each half of the squash.
Season: Drizzle olive oil over the cut sides of the squash halves. Use a pastry brush to evenly spread the oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bake: Place the squash halves face down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the squash is tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.
Serve: Let the squash cool on the pan for about 5 minutes.Use a fork to scrape the squash flesh out of the shell, creating spaghetti-like strands. Discard the shell.
Serve the spaghetti squash with a bit of butter, and additional salt and pepper to taste, or use it in your favorite recipe.
