How to thaw frozen croissants
Thaw croissants before making this recipe. To thaw, spray a plate or small baking pan with nonstick cooking spray and place croissants in a single layer, keeping about 1" in between each croissant.
Spray a piece of plastic wrap with nonstick cooking spray and place it on top of croissants.
Refrigerate overnight, removing from fridge about 30 minutes before making, or thaw at room temperature for 3-4 hours or until thawed and puffy from rising.
How to make Croffles
When ready to make croffles, preheat a waffle iron and coat with vegetable oil.
Place croissants into the waffle maker and close it shut. The amount you can place will be determined by how large the waffle maker is. Ours has 2 spaces as shown. Repeat until all servings are complete.
When cooking is complete, remove from waffle maker and serve topped with syrup, fresh fruit, and powdered sugar.
Notes
Please note that refrigerated crescent rolls are not the same as croissants. While any dough could likely be successfully used in a waffle maker, it won't have the same consistency as this recipe.
