This recipe requires a softened brick of cream cheese. The best way to soften cream cheese without melting it is to pull it out of the fridge, unwrap and leave at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Place a block of softened cream cheese on a platter and use the back of a spoon to create a divot in the cheese.
Microwave red pepper jelly for 30 seconds and stir until smooth.
Spoon spicy jelly on top of the cream cheese block and sprinkle red pepper flakes on top of the jelly. Serve this dip with buttery crackers like Ritz. Please note that cream cheese (even softened) can break buttery crackers. It's best to serve with a condiment knife to spread without breaking.
Notes
Hands down, our favorite cracker to serve hot pepper jelly and cream cheese is a Ritz cracker. We also love club crackers to serve. One thing to note is that these types of buttery crackers, while delicious, break under pressure, and it’s best to use a small cheese knife to keep the cracker from breaking. Dipping directly into cream cheese blocks requires a stronger cracker like a pretzel cracker or a toasted garlic or bagel chip. Holiday tip - serve with red pepper jelly and green pepper jelly for Christmas colors.
