Brown Sugar chocolate chip cookies with sea salt and chocolate chip chunks are a delicious large volume chewy cookie perfect for holiday baking. This cookie recipe is also a holiday viral recipe that every one is trying!
Using either a saucepan or the microwave, melt butter and then let butter stand for about 10 minutes to cool. You do not want hot butter going into the dough.
Once cooked, combine butter, light brown sugar, and granulated white sugar and beat well. (I use a stand mixer)
Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat well.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Then, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Beat together until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chunks with a spatula.
Cover the bowl and let the batter stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a 2 tablespoon portion cookie scoop, scoop dough onto baking sheet, making sure cookies are 2" apart. (I fit six cookies on one sheet).
Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
Bake cookies for 9 minutes.
Let hot cookies stand on baking sheet for 2 minutes before removing from pan and cooling on a cooling rack.
Repeat until all the batter is used and cookies are baked.
