This Butterfinger puppy chow is a no bake snack mix made with Rice Chex, peanut butter, chocolate, and crushed Butterfinger candy bars. It has the classic muddy buddies texture with extra crunch and candy mixed in, making it perfect for parties and sharing.
Place 15 fun size Butterfinger bars into a large resealable bag and crush into small pieces using a rolling pin. Set aside.
Add the cereal to a large mixing bowl and set aside.
In a saucepan over low heat, add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Stir constantly until melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently mix until evenly coated.
Add the powdered sugar and mix well until all cereal is coated. Transfer to a large resealable bag if needed and shake gently to distribute the sugar evenly.
Add the crushed Butterfinger pieces and mix until combined.
Spread the puppy chow onto a wax paper lined surface and allow it to cool and dry completely.
Before serving, coarsely crush the remaining Butterfinger bars and sprinkle over the top for extra crunch.
Notes
A 12.8 oz box of Rice Chex contains about 15 cups, which is more than enough for this recipe. Adding some of the Butterfinger pieces at the end helps keep the candy flavor and texture noticeable. Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.
