Eggless Churrows, or chocolate con churros, is a super simple churro recipe with delicious dough that fries up and then coated with cinnamon and sugar and dipped in chocolate sauce. Simple eggless churro recipe, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside! There is nothing more delicious than a crunchy fried cinnamon sugar churro just coated in dripping melting chocolate. With this sweet fried pastry and a variety of delicious dipping choices, try churros for breakfast, as a snack or as a dessert.
Add water, sugar, salt and vegetable oil into a saucepan.
Heat mixture over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Bring to a boil. Once at a boil, remove from heat.
Stir in flour just until a dough forms, careful not to overmix.
Let dough cool for a few minutes so it's easier to handle (But still warm).
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until hot. I had about 2" of oil in my pan, but adjust for your pan size.
Place dough into a pastry bag or large zip lock bag and snip the tip so it's about 1" in diameter.
Pipe a 4-5" strip of dough directly into hot oil (about the size of a cheese stick in width) or pipe a few on a cutting board and carefully use tongs tp place into hot oil. Either method works.
Fry 3-5 churros at once for approximately 3-5 minutes, until outsides are browned. Testing one to get timing right before adding the entire batch is recommended.
Remove churros from pan and drain excess grease on paper towels.
Repeat until all dough is cooked and churros are made.
Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl or on a plate and dredge hot churros into mixture, coating all sides evenly.
Heat dipping chocolate sauce in microwave for 10 seconds and stir.
Serve with chocolate dipping sauce.
Notes
Can Vegans eat churros? Great question! Normal traditionally prepared churros with dessert dough are vegan. However, in this recipe, I use vegetable oil, and it's NOT vegan. To make the change to a vegan churro, simply change out the vegetable oil to canola oil - so yes, Vegans can eat churros if properly prepared! Are Churros Mexican? So many foods come from all over the world and are refined in other places. Churros (as far as we can tell) were originally from Spain, however, moved to Mexico, where they became a more modern-day dessert. How do you make a piping bag for churros? You can add a gallon size baggie into a glass and spread the opening around the rim. Add churro dough, then cut the corner of the baggie. It's also fine to just use a real piping bag and a tip! What goes good with churros? Do you mean you need more to eat??? If you want to know what goes well on a churro it's cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. As far as a sauce - chocolate dipping sauce, melted down hazelnut spreads, vanilla frosting, or caramel. If you want to know what to drink with a churro - try hot chocolate!
