Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large saucepan, add milk and boxed chocolate pudding.
Heat pudding over medium heat, constantly whisking until the mixture just begins to boil and slightly thickens. You'll feel the mixture thicken with the whisk, but it doesn't look overly thick.
Remove the pudding from the heat and stir in the package of dry cake mix. Mix well.
Pour the dump cake mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Top cake with chocolate chips.
Bake chocolate dump cake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center is clean.
Cool cake until just warm, and slice and serve.
Notes
Serve this rich dessert with a smooth, creamy scoop of vanilla ice cream. Chocolate lovers may want more chocolate chips, and chocolate shavings, or add a few maraschino cherries to the topping. Turn the moist chocolate cake layers into Rocky Road by adding marshmallows!Need more death by chocolate? Try drizzling chocolate sauce or caramel sauce on top.
