In a large ovenproof skillet (like cast iron pan), heat minced garlic, butter, and almond slivers for 2-3 minutes or until garlic begins to brown. Remove pan from heat.
Add fresh pre-steamed green beans and cooking oil.
Season the dish with salt and black pepper (to taste), and add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Mix all ingredients well.
Top green beans with crumbled Feta cheese.
Bake cast iron pan in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until heated through. Optionally serve with a squeeze of lemon.
Notes
ADDITIONS: Some people like to switch up the ingredients, which is no problem. Great additions are bacon pieces.CHEESE: Like listed in the article, if you do not love feta, try blue cheese or a healthy portion of freshly shredded Parmesan cheeseFROZEN OR FRESH: This recipe relies on COOKED green beans, so you can certainly drain canned green beans, use frozen green beans, or mix up the green bean type like French sliced. The one thing you have to be sure of is DRAINING extra moisture before making it. Personally, I think the BEST recipe is to use fresh steamed green beans in this almondine. They have the best texture and taste, but if time doesn't allow it, you can substitute them in a pinch. Please note that altering the recipe can vary the taste from the original recipe.OVEN WARMING: If you do not have a pan that can be put in the oven like a cast iron pan, you can transfer your green beans to a casserole dish prior to putting in the oven.
