Whip up the best Saltine Toffee Candy (also called Christmas Crack) with this simple holiday recipe. A crunchy, salty, and sweet chocolatey treat that everyone will love!
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a 10x15-inch baking sheet with foil and spray generously with nonstick spray.
Arrange approximately 38 saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet, making sure they fight snugly against each other. You may need to break some crackers in half near the end of the sheet in order to complete the row.
Make Toffee: In a saucepan, melt 2 sticks of butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir continuously until the mixture begins to boil. Continue stirring for 3 minutes, or until the mixture turns a caramel color and thickens slightly.
Carefully pour Toffee over crackers, spreading evenly to cover all crackers.
Place pan in the oven and bake for another 3 minutes; the toffee should be bubbling.
Sprinkle 12 oz. of chocolate chips over the hot toffee-covered crackers. Return to the oven for 2 minutes to soften.
After removing the pan from the oven, use a knife or the back of a spoon to spread the melted chocolate over the entire surface of the toffee-covered crackers.
While the chocolate is still warm, add your favorite Christmas sprinkles over the top for a festive touch. Let the treat cool completely at room temperature.
Once set, use a pizza cutter or knife to cut or simply break into pieces.
