How to make the Whoville Dip
Place the dry cake mix in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds to kill bacteria. Let it cool completely before moving on.
Add the cooled cake mix, softened cream cheese, and milk to a mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy.
Mix in green food coloring until you reach your desired shade. Gel food coloring gives the brightest Whoville look.
Gently fold in the whipped topping until light and fluffy.
Spoon the dip into a serving bowl. Top with red heart sprinkles or place a homemade candy melt heart in the center. Serve immediately with pretzels, graham crackers, and Nilla wafers, or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
How to make a Red Chocolate Heart (optional)
Line a baking sheet, cutting board, or flat surface with parchment paper.
Place 5 red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat at 50% power for 15–20 seconds, then stir until smooth. If needed, continue microwaving in 10-second intervals at 50% power until fully melted.
Transfer the melted candy into a resealable sandwich bag. Snip off one corner and pipe heart shapes onto the wax paper.
Let the hearts harden completely at room temperature or place in the fridge until firm. Add to dip.
