Slow Cooker Pink Sauce Pasta with Chicken

This Slow Cooker Pink Sauce Pasta with Chicken is an easy way to turn chicken breasts into a creamy pasta dinner with farfalle and plenty of melted mozzarella. The chicken cooks first in the slow cooker, then the pasta and cheese go in at the end.
I make this in a 6-quart slow cooker on HIGH, so it is also a good option when you want a crockpot dinner without an all-day cook time.

What Is Pink Sauce Pasta?
Pink sauce is a combination of marinara and Alfredo sauce. Mixing the two gives you a creamy tomato sauce that falls somewhere between traditional red sauce and Alfredo.
For this recipe, I use a 24-ounce jar of marinara with a 15-ounce jar of Alfredo. The chicken cooks directly in the sauce before the pasta and mozzarella are added.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. chicken breast – Boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Poultry seasoning
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 jar (15 oz.) Alfredo sauce
- 1 jar (24 oz.) marinara sauce
- 1 box (12 oz.) farfalle pasta, cooked
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- Chopped fresh parsley, optional for serving

How to Make Slow Cooker Pink Sauce Pasta with Chicken
Add the chicken breasts to a 6-quart slow cooker. Season well with salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning.

Add the minced garlic, Alfredo sauce, and marinara sauce. Mix the sauces around the chicken until combined.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2½ hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

Remove the lid and carefully shred the chicken with two forks. The sauce and slow cooker will be very hot at this point, so use caution while shredding.

Stir in the cooked farfalle pasta and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese until everything is coated in the pink sauce.

Spread the pasta evenly in the slow cooker and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella over the top.
Cover and cook for another 20 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted.

Top with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
Tips for Making Pink Sauce Pasta in the Slow Cooker
Add the pasta at the end. I make the farfalle separately and add it after the chicken has cooked and been shredded. This keeps the pasta from sitting in the slow cooker for hours and becoming too soft.
Check the chicken rather than relying only on the clock. Chicken breast thickness can vary, so start checking around the 2-hour mark. The chicken is ready to shred once the thickest part reaches 165°F.

Can I Use Another Pasta Shape?
Yes. Farfalle works well with the shredded chicken and thick sauce, but another short pasta such as penne or rotini should also work.
Cook whichever pasta you use before adding it to the slow cooker.
What to Serve with Pink Sauce Chicken Pasta
This is already a filling meal, so I usually keep the sides simple.
Seasoned Green Beans are an easy vegetable to serve alongside pasta. If you want something to scoop up the extra creamy tomato sauce, Garlic Parmesan Bread works well here too.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Poultry seasoning to taste
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 15 oz. Alfredo sauce
- 24 oz. marinara sauce
- 12 oz. farfalle pasta
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Chopped fresh parsley optional for serving
Instructions
- Add uncooked chicken breasts to a 6-quart slow cooker. Season well with salt, black pepper, and poultry seasoning. Add minced garlic.
- Pour Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce over the chicken and mix the sauces together around the chicken.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2½ hours. Chicken breast thickness can affect the exact cooking time, so begin checking around the 2-hour mark. Chicken is ready when the thickest portion reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- While the chicken cooks, prepare the farfalle according to package directions. Drain and set aside. The pasta should be cooked separately and added near the end so it does not become overly soft in the slow cooker.
- Once the chicken is cooked, carefully shred it directly in the slow cooker using two forks. The sauce and slow cooker will be very hot, so use caution.
- Stir the cooked farfalle and 1 cup mozzarella cheese into the shredded chicken and pink sauce until evenly combined.
- Spread the pasta mixture evenly in the slow cooker and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese over the top. Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 20 to 30 minutes, or until the mozzarella is completely melted.
- Top with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
