Air Fryer Apple Pies

If you like Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies, you have to try making these air fryer apple pies! Instead of traditional pie crust, the oatmeal cookies are pressed into little cups and filled with canned apple pie filling. After just 5 minutes (per batch) in the air fryer, the edges get slightly crispy while the center stays soft, giving them a warm, freshly baked cookie texture.

I liked these so much that they have become a regular on our dessert rotation. They’re easy to throw together when you’re craving something sweet without baking an entire pie. Serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you’ve got an easy dessert for your next movie night.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Apple Pies

You only need two ingredients for the actual pies, plus whatever you want to serve on top.

  • Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies: I used the regular-size sandwich cookies, not the larger ones. The standard 16.2-ounce box contains 12 individually wrapped pies.
  • Canned apple pie filling: I used Meijer apple pie filling. Some of the apple slices were pretty big, so I broke them into smaller pieces with the side of a spoon right in the can.

Optional

  • Vanilla ice cream: Optional, but I definitely recommend serving these warm with a scoop. A dollop of whipped cream is another good option. This is my favorite vanilla ice cream.
  • Ground cinnamon: A little sprinkle over the ice cream finishes them off plus smells so good with each bite.

You’ll also need paper muffin cups and nonstick cooking spray. Make sure the cups are suitable for use in an air fryer.

How to Make Mini Apple Pies in the Air Fryer

Shape the oatmeal creme pies. Lightly grease the inside of a paper muffin cup with nonstick cooking spray. Place one regular-size oatmeal creme pie inside and gently press the center down with your thumbs, shaping it into a little cup with raised edges.

Add the apple filling. Spoon a few pieces of canned apple pie filling into the center. If the apples are large, use the side of a spoon to cut them into smaller pieces first. Don’t pile the filling too high or the apples may not heat all the way through during the short cooking time.

Air fry for 5 minutes. Place the filled muffin cups in the air fryer basket and air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes. I did not preheat my air fryer before making these. If you add a larger amount of apple filling, you may need to increase the cooking time until the apples are warmed through.

Serve warm. Carefully remove the mini pies from the air fryer and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired. I especially like how the ice cream starts melting over the warm apples and oatmeal cookie.

More Easy Apple Desserts

If you like shortcuts using canned apple pie filling, try my Crockpot Apple Dump Cake. It’s another easy dessert that’s really good with vanilla ice cream.

You can also make Air Fryer Cinnamon Apples with fresh apples, cinnamon, and sugar. They’re warm, sweet, and especially good served over ice cream.

Total Time 30 minutes
These easy air fryer apple pies are made with Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies and canned apple pie filling! The oatmeal cookies get slightly crispy in the air fryer, creating a warm mini apple dessert in just 5 minutes per batch. Serve with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon.

Equipment

  • air fryer
  • air fryer safe paper muffin liners
  • non-stick cooking spray

Ingredients

  • 16.2 oz Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies regular size (12 sandwich cookies)
  • 20 oz apple pie filling use as much as needed
  • Vanilla ice cream optional for serving
  • Ground cinnamon optional for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the muffin cups. Lightly grease the inside of 12 air-fryer-safe paper muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Shape the oatmeal creme pies. Place one regular-size oatmeal creme pie into each muffin cup. Gently press your thumbs into the center of each cookie to create an indentation, shaping the edges upward to form a small cup.
  • Add the apple filling. Spoon a few pieces of canned apple pie filling into the center of each cookie. If the apple slices are large, use the side of a spoon to break them into smaller pieces. Avoid overfilling, since too many apples may not heat through during the short cooking time.
  • Air fry in batches. Place 3 filled oatmeal creme pies into the air fryer basket, making sure the cookies hold the paper muffin cups securely in place. Air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes without preheating. Repeat with the remaining pies, cooking 3 at a time. If using extra apple filling, additional cooking time may be needed until the apples are warmed through.
  • Serve warm. Carefully remove the mini apple pies from the air fryer and serve with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired.
