The viral video seen over 3 million times featuring the seasoning addition to plain Doritos was so intriguing we had to see if it worked.

Just kinda fun and no trip to the store– This viral recipe to spruce up homemade tortilla chips is pretty fun.

Not just adding Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, this entire world of getting creative with dusting chips right out of the pantry is a win/win. 

From afternoon gaming to late night munchies, bootleg Doritos solves a problem we didn’t know we had. 

Ingredients:

• a gallon size ziplock bag
• corn tortilla chips
• ranch dry seasoning mix 

How to make TikTok Bootleg Doritos

1. Pour dry seasoning onto the chips and seal the bag.
2. Shake and evenly coat chips with seasoning.
3. Open and enjoy.

Did this TikTok Hack for Doritos work? 

I was skeptical. I think it’s close.

The first chip I was sold, but the second and third, not so much. Maybe I was in my head by that point.

I do think the trick is trying to get an even coating of the ranch onto each chip, which seems like only a wizard could do with a bag and shaking.

Would we make homemade Doritos again? 

Actually yes. Adding seasoning to plain tortilla chips is pretty exciting.

From cinnamon and sugar to everything bagel seasoning, seasoning plain tortillas is a trend we love.

HOWEVER. THE CHANGE WE WOULD MAKE!

One way to elevate easy homemade Doritos is to make actual homemade corn tortilla chips and then sprinkle the seasoning on while still hot and oily.

This would also resolve the dry seasonings falling to the bottom of the bag and improve your experience. 

Try also with popcorn shaker seasonings.
