  • 20 oz. pineapple chunks drained, reserve 1/4th cup juice
  • 20 oz. crushed pineapple drained
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • 30 Buttery Crackers crushed – Ritz is fine
  • ½ cup butter melted


Prep Pineapple Casserole

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Drain the pineapple chunks, reserving only 1/4 cup of the pineapple juice.
  • Add pineapple chunks and reserved juice to a mixing bowl with drained and crushed pineapple and white sugar. Mix everything together well.

    I am 43 years old, born and raised in southeast Georgia, and I have never seen or heard of this dish. Please don’t serve whatever this is to people, and if you do, please don’t call it Southern. A Southerner would never.

      I am actually older than you and have also lived in the South my entire life. Just because you haven’t personally tried or know of a recipe doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. This dish has also been featured on (in varying forms) pretty much every Southern food blog out there, including Southern Living magazine, Paula Deen, and Pioneer Woman. And as my parents would have said – you should really try food before you decide you don’t like it. 🙂
