Homemade Butter toffee pretzels are one of those snacks that disappear fast. They’re sweet, salty, and easy to make with basic pantry ingredients. The only problem with this recipe is that once you make these, you will eat a handful literally every time you walk into the kitchen *(ask me how I know).

So if you want to keep your waist line slender, these are not for you, but if you love a perfect holiday snack that is in line with the spirit of Christmas, I got you.

Important Heath Bar Tip Before Starting

I’ve made these butter toffee pretzels plenty of times, but this batch reminded me that not all Heath bags are the same. The orange bag includes chocolate, while the “Bits o’ Brickle” version is straight toffee.

If you want a clean toffee crunch without chocolate melting into the mix, choose the Brickle bag. It makes a difference in the final texture.

Once the pretzels were baked, mine stuck together more than I wanted, so I separated them by hand while they were still warm.

They come out of a 200 degree oven, so they weren’t too hot to handle. This step isn’t required, but it gives you a more even, crunchy coating.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup

More Grabbable Homemade Snacks

If you love easy sweet salty snacks like this, try a batch of caramel mini crackers or garbage disposal pretzels when you want something crunchy without much prep. For a nutty option, candied walnuts cool into a glossy crackly coating that’s hard to stop eating.

If you want to keep it holiday related, these Christmas pretzel wreaths are fun for holiday trays, and saltine toffee candy is always dependable when you need a quick homemade treat.
