What did we think about this TikTok Recipe?
These smothered pretzels are tasty! I put too many toppings on the pretzels or needed to spread the chocolate more because some didn’t stick.
I didn’t see how to spread the chocolate, so I drizzled it. I used too many goodies and not enough chocolate.
The great thing about this dessert recipe is that you can get creative and add more or less goodies, and there isn’t a wrong way to make and enjoy them.
How to make Garbage Disposal Pretzels.
- Line a baking sheet (cookie sheet) with parchment paper and spread pretzels into a single layer.
- Top with crushed Oreos and crushed waffle cones.
- Add chocolate chips and peanut butter to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 90 seconds at 50% power. Stir until smooth. If necessary, return to the microwave in 20-second increments at 50% power and stir until smooth.
- Drizzle chocolate on top of pretzels, cookies, and waffle cone pieces.
- Let stand to harden, or pop in the fridge for 10 minutes until the chocolate is set.
- Break apart the pretzel pieces and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge (so the chocolate doesn’t melt).
Delicious Tip
Try a little flaky sea salt on the unset chocolate for a sweet and salty mix.
Top Add-Ons for Your Garbage Disposal Pretzels
Marshmallows are a classic choice when it comes to sweet toppings. Mini marshmallows could provide a delightful contrast to salty pretzels, and when the whole thing is set with chocolate, they turn gooey and delicious.
Sprinkles: Not only do these add a pop of color, but they also give a nice crunchy texture. The fun shapes and sizes can make your pretzels look perfect for any event, from birthday parties to Christmas.
Toffee Bits: Small chunks of toffee would add a delightful buttery sweetness to your pretzels. Their firm chewiness could be an enjoyable contrast to the pretzel’s crunchiness and the chocolate’s smoothness.
Dried Fruit: Chopped dried fruits like cherries, apricots, or cranberries can provide a tangy counterpoint to the sweetness of the chocolate and cookies.
White Chocolate Drizzle: After your pretzels are set with dark or milk chocolate, drizzle some melted white chocolate over the top. This gives a visually impressive two-tone effect and adds an extra layer of sweetness.
Other great choices are brown sugar, crushed potato chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, or even bits of candy bars. The sky is the limit!
