Christmas Oreos

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read the Privacy Policy & Cookie Policy.

Those white chocolate coated Oreos that show up every Christmas season are dangerously good. These homemade versions are nearly as delicious, half dipped, and decorated like little Christmas trees for a festive touch. They may look fancy, but they are actually very simple to make with almond bark, candy melts, and a few holiday sprinkles.

If you already enjoy easy Oreo desserts like oreo fudge or golden oreo truffles, these festive Christmas Oreos fit right in with your holiday baking.

Christmas Oreos work well for cookie trays, classroom parties, gifting, or setting out with French hot chocolate. Since the Oreos stay crisp under the chocolate, they hold up well at room temperature and travel easily. I make these every year for cookie trays and they always disappear first.

How to Make Chocolate Dipped Christmas Oreos

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

Melt the vanilla almond bark according to the package directions. I use the melt function on my microwave, but follow the instructions for your own appliance. Dip almost half of each Oreo cookie into the melted white chocolate and place onto the prepared baking sheets.

Let the cookies stand at room temperature until the chocolate is set, or place the trays in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

Melt the dark green candy melts according to the package directions.  Transfer the melted chocolate into a small resealable sandwich bag, seal it, and snip a tiny hole in one corner.

Pipe the green chocolate onto each cookie in a zigzag tree shape. While the chocolate is still wet, press one star sprinkle at the top and add a chocolate jimmie at the bottom for the tree trunk. It works best to decorate just a few at a time since the candy melts set quickly.

Repeat until all the cookies are decorated. Allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving or storing.

Store the finished Oreo Christmas cookies at room temperature in an airtight container.

Helpful Notes from My Kitchen

These work best with vanilla almond bark instead of white chocolate chips. Almond bark melts smoother and sets more cleanly, which gives your Christmas Oreos that crisp finish people recognize from store-bought versions.

You can refrigerate the cookies briefly to harden the base coating, but I recommend letting the green tree decorations set at room temperature so condensation does not dull the finish.

If your candy melts start to thicken while piping, reheat in very short bursts and stir well to avoid scorching. This tip also comes in handy for fast microwave desserts like this popular Oreo mug cake.

If you are building a small Oreo dessert spread for the holidays, these cookies sit nicely alongside something simple like Oreo Dirt Cups.
