Oreo Dirt in a Bag is a fun twist on classic dirt cups, individual snack-size Oreo bags filled with chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and gummy worms. This walking dessert is perfect for birthday parties, team snacks, camping trips, or anytime you need an easy make-ahead treat.
Because everything is self-contained in the bag, there’s no cleanup, no dishes, and no need for serving bowls. Just grab a spoon and dig in!

- 12 mini Oreo snack packs (1 oz each)
- 1 small box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed
- 12 gummy worms, cut in half
How to Assemble the Oreo Dirt Cup Bags
I cut each Oreo snack bag open on the short end and removed two cookies from each. I placed those into a bowl and set the bags upright on a serving tray.
I rolled the top of each bag down about 1 1/2 inches to create a shallow, cup-like opening. This made them easier to fill.
I used a tart shaper to crush the cookies from the bowl and saved those crumbs for topping.
In a separate bowl, I whisked the pudding mix with 2 cups of milk for 2 minutes until smooth. I let it chill in the fridge for 5 minutes so it could set. Once the pudding was set, I folded in the whipped topping and spooned it into an 18-inch piping bag. I snipped the tip to about 1/2 inch.
I piped the pudding mixture into each Oreo bag, dividing it evenly among the 12 bags.
I topped each with two gummy worm halves and sprinkled about 1 heaping teaspoon of crushed Oreos on top.
Serve them with small spoons, or keep them chilled and bring them out when it’s time to eat.
What I Learned Making These
I took these to feed the high school softball team, and they devoured them. They were a huge hit, and while they aren’t hard to make, they are a bit time-consuming. Cutting open each bag, removing a few cookies, and rolling down the rim of every single one takes a little effort but it’s worth it.
If I make these again, I’d recommend rolling the bag rim down about 1 1/2 inches. Mini Oreo bags don’t have a ton of cookies in them, so rolling down the top helps bring the pudding and toppings closer to the top. If you don’t roll them down enough, you’ll need more filling than what’s listed to get the dirt mixture to the top of the bag.
I tried crushing the cookies while they were still inside the bag, but it didn’t work. The frosting inside made the cookies slide apart instead of breaking into crumbs, so I ended up pulling out two cookies from each bag and crushing them in a bowl with a tart shaper. If you don’t have one, you could also use a Ziploc and a rolling pin.
If you like soft cookies, make these ahead of time and refrigerate them. The moisture softens the Oreos overnight and makes them more like traditional dirt cups. But if you want them to stay crunchy, serve them shortly after filling.
I stored mine upright in the fridge, covered in foil, and they held up perfectly. I even saved a few to bring home to my husband and son the next day. Also, I used an 18-inch piping bag to fill them. Snipping the tip about 1/2 inch wide gave me good control without making a mess.
After I made these, I also thought that cutting the bag along the long side might make them easier to fill and decorate. It would give more room for worms and toppings on the surface, and possibly eliminate the need to roll the rim down at all.

Ingredients
