Ingredients
- cream cheese
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract
- Cool Whip Topping, thawed
- 20 Oreo cookies, finely crushed (While we use Classic Oreos, Oreo has many flavors to choose from. Try this dip with Golden Oreos, Mint Oreos, or Birthday Cake)
Before starting dip recipe
Before you get started, there is brief prep. First, you need to crush the cookies and second, its helpful to work with softened cream cheese. We show you how to do both below.
How to Crush Oreo Cookies
- Place the Oreo cookies in the zip-top bag, removing air from the pack.
- Using a rolling pin, firmly press down on the Oreo cookies in the bag.
- Roll over the bag until the cookies are crushed into small pieces.
- Be sure to reserve some cookie crumbs and additional Oreos for the topping.
How to soften cream cheese
BEST WAY: Allow the cream cheese to sit at room temperature 10-15 minutes before use. Alternative: Soften the cream cheese in the microwave for 10–15 seconds.
Be careful not to melt cream cheese, and note that cream cheese is typically in a foil covering that cannot go into the microwave.
How to make Oreo Dip with Classic Oreos
This recipe makes approximately 6 cups of dip so plan accordingly.
- Add cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a stand mixer (or electric hand mixer) and beat well until the cream cheese mixture is smooth.
- Add the whipped topping and crushed Oreos and blend until combined.
- Spoon into a serving bowl and serve immediately with pretzels, animal crackers, and Graham crackers, or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Store leftover dip in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Add heavy whipping cream if the dip is too thick (about one teaspoon at a time) until you reach your desired consistency.
