Discover the magic of the Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole – a dish that takes two all-time favorites to a whole new level. Loaded with flavor, this casserole is the perfect blend of savoriness, cheesiness, and crispiness that will have everyone asking for seconds.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 10.5 oz. cheddar cheese condensed soup
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • ¾ cup bacon cooked and chopped
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 32 oz. frozen tater tots keep frozen

Seasonings

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9×13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large skillet, add uncooked ground beef and heat over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until the beef is browned. After the beef is thoroughly cooked, drain any excess grease from the skillet. This step is crucial as it removes any excess fat, resulting in a dish full of flavor but not overly greasy.
  • Season cooked beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add cheddar cheese condensed soup, sour cream, cooked bacon, and milk to the beef. Mix all these ingredients within your skillet, ensuring every piece of beef gets coated.
  • Pour beef mixture into prepped 9 x 13 oven safe pan.
  • Add the frozen tater tots and shredded cheddar cheese and using a spatula, mix well until evenly coated.
  • With everything in place, spread the mixture evenly into the pan, ensuring it's level. This will help your casserole bake uniformly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until you see the edges bubbling.
  • Enjoy this dish piping hot, when its flavors are at their peak.

Notes

This dish is a great base and easy to add ingredients too. Try cooked green beans, mushrooms, diced peppers, diced onions, or jalapenos.

This was really, really good! Even the picky kids ate it. It was a little too mushy though (just our personal preferences.) Next time I will either bake the tator tots in a single layer on top so they get crispy, and then melt the cheese on top of those. Or I’ll bake the tots separately and add those and the cheese into the casserole. The recipe is delicious though! Definitely a keeper for our family:) thank you!

  4. Love this recipe! I did change a few things and thought it turned out delicious. I used minced garlic instead of garlic salt and Dale’s marinate instead of Worcestershire sauce. I put crumbled bacon on top, then cheese, then a layer of tots instead of mixing that all in. It was delicious!

I always double this recipe because my man loves it so much! Definitely an easy and yummy meal.
