How to Pack Fudge for Gift Giving
Cupcake Liners
When you’re packaging fudge for gifting, make sure to cut the fudge squares small enough to fit into mini cupcake liners. Fudge is super rich, so a small piece is more than enough for a sweet treat.
The cupcake liners help keep the chocolate separate from each other and each square should sit inside the cupcake liner easily. This is the first step to adding to tins or any of the boxes.
You do not need to do this if you are packing in plastic bags.
In Round Holiday Tins:
- Fill the bottom of the tin with paper bag stuffing. This fills up the box and raises the cupcake liners.
- Place the fudge pieces in mini cupcake liners and arrange them in the tin.
- Cover the tin and tie a ribbon around it. (You’ll need about 15-18 inches of ribbon.)
- Refrigerate until you’re ready to gift it.
In Brown Boxes:
- Fill the bottom of the box with paper bag stuffing.
- Place the fudge in mini cupcake liners and arrange them in the box.
- Cover the box and tie a ribbon around it. (You’ll need about 8-10 inches of ribbon.)
- Refrigerate until you’re ready to gift it.
In Charcuterie Boxes
These are the same boxes we use in our charcuterie snack box, and are the perfect choice for giving any kind of treat this year.
You can create an assorted box with a variety of flavors, and the clear lid, lets you show off the fudge pieces inside. I love also tying the lid with a ribbon on these as well. This is my favorite way to gift!
In Plastic Bags:
- Roll down the bags and stack two rows of fudge in the bottom.
- Unroll the bag and remove as much air as possible.
- Seal the bag with a twist tie.
- Trim the bag with scissors if you want it to look neat.
- Cut about 8 inches of ribbon and tie it around the twist tie. You can do a double knot for a polished look, and trim the ribbon ends at an angle for a clean finish.
- Snip the ends of the ribbon on an angle for a nice touch.
- Refrigerate until you’re ready to gift it.
Important Tips for Gift Receiver
There are a few things you may want to tell your recipients when receiving fudge. You cat attach a cute little tag that shares the kind of fudge inside, what date it was packed, an allergy information like peanuts inside, and recommended storage.
I like using Canva to make tags and I may come back and add a few freebies that I make this season so be on the look out for that.
- Consume batch of fudge within 10 days.
- Keep air out! Excess air can dry fudge out, so wrap it tightly. If the edges do get dry, just trim them off, and you’ll find soft fudge inside.
- Freeze by wrapping it tightly in freezer paper or heavy wax paper for up to six months. Thaw before enjoying.
Store bought fudge storage
- Storing at room temperature in its original plastic or wax paper (if you bought the fudge from a store).
- Storing in the fridge: If wrapped tightly, store bought fudge can stay good for up to 3 weeks.
These Recipes Perfect for Gifting
There are a lot of kinds of fudge flavors to gift. Here are just a few that I recommend that you can learn how to do from my site.
- My one tip is to not mix fudge recipes that must be in the fridge vs fudge that only does well on the counter (like microwave fudge). Just pay attention to the recipe you are using and what its shelf life and storage needs are.
- No-fail Chocolate Fudge -This is the original, old-fashioned, grandma-approved recipe that’s almost impossible to mess up. Once you’ve mastered this, other recipes will be a breeze.

- White Chocolate Fudge
- Oreo Fudge
- Rocky Road Fudge
