Sautéed Celery

Sautéed Celery is a great way to use up all that leftover celery in the salad drawer while also providing a unique side dish you may have never tried before.
While sautéed celery is common in stir fry no one really considers that it can be served by itself! Done in just about 15 minutes, this quick stovetop side dish is deliciously complementary to a chicken recipe.
Why cooked celery should be on your plate tonight.
Veggies reign supreme when it comes to a side dish and are often plate side for a well rounded weeknight dinner. Broccoli, carrots, or corn are typically the most common but there are lot of ways to make your plate of chicken more interesting and mix up flavors, textures, and nutrition.
While your mouth may not water in anticipation seeing celery on the table (because let’s face it, we all would rather have parmesan potatoes if given a choice), celery really is a great option and always shines on holidays like Thanksgiving.
Ingredients to make Sautéed Celery
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 bunch, 16 oz, celery, washed and slice into small pieces
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1-1/2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
How to Sauté Celery
I make mine with a bit of crunch, but you can alter timing to soften up as you prefer.
Add butter into a large skillet and heat over medium heat until melted.
Add celery pieces, diced onion, parsley, salt and pepper and sauté for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add chicken broth and bring mixture to a gently boil.
Continue to boil over medium low, stirring occasionally until most of the liquid is reduced.
Remove celery from heat and serve hot.
Sauté more Vegetables
Sautéing veggies is pretty quick, which is why its such a viable option for dinner. If you love this method of cooking, make sure to try sauteed carrots, sauteed mushrooms, or sauteed sugar snap peas.
