Caramel Apple Grapes Recipe
How to make grapes dipped in apples.
Prepare the Dipping Ingredients: Place chopped peanuts, sprinkles, toffee bits, marshmallow bits, shredded coconut, and crushed Oreo cookies into small shallow bowls and set them aside. This is obviously what I used for my recipe, but you can use whatever you want. Its a good time to find those last bits of bags in your pantry that just have small amounts of cookies or sprinkles and use them up!
Line a cutting board or baking sheet with parchment paper and make a space in your fridge for it.
Prep the Grapes: It is important to ensure that the grapes are completely dry. Nothing sticks well to wet fruit. Insert a toothpick into each grape, at the end opposite of where the stem was, and set the grapes aside.
Melt the Caramel: In a small saucepan, add the caramel bits and heavy whipping cream. Heat the caramel mixture over low heat, stirring constantly until the caramel is melted and smooth, which takes about 5-8 minutes.
It’s important to keep the caramel warm while you work to prevent it from hardening.
Dip the Grapes: With the caramel still over low heat, dip each grape into the caramel, letting the excess drip off.
Immediately dredge the grape in your topping of choice. Place the coated grapes onto the parchment paper.
Once all the grapes are dipped and coated, refrigerate them for about an hour to let the caramel set. Serve chilled and enjoy!
A few tips on this recipe – I found that using chopped peanuts with the caramel is the sweet and salty combo that I prefer.
The marshmallow bits are hard like the ones you’d find in a hot cocoa mix or Lucky Charms. They usually come in a shaker can.
How to Remove Caramel from the Saucepan
Typically when you are done cooking, you set everything aside till later. This means the caramel in the sauce pan is going to sit and harden. Let me give you a few tips on how I am able to clean it without getting frustrated.
- Fill the saucepan with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes to loosen the hardened caramel.
- Gently scrub the caramel off the surface using a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
- If any stubborn bits remain, you can reheat the pan slightly to soften the caramel and try cleaning again.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry.

Love this recipe. I prefer to use the peanuts with the caramel. If I make these and have to transport them I put them into mini cupcake papers. The papers will keep them from sticking together also!
