Celery juice has become incredibly popular due to its numerous health benefits and I am so happy people are catching on.
Whether you want to detox, improve digestion, or add more nutrients to your diet, this easy recipe will help you make freshly squeezed juice at home even if you do not own a juicer.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds celery stalks
- Two teaspoons of lime juice
- 1/2 cup water
When making this celery juice recipe, don’t forget to save the center leaves of your celery stalks for a garnish. It makes you feel fancy; like you’re at a spa.
How to Make Celery Juice Without a Juicer
Wash the celery stalks thoroughly, discarding the ends and chopping the stalks into 1-inch pieces.
Place the chopped celery, lime juice, and water into a blender. Blend until smooth, ensuring all celery pieces are fully incorporated. If necessary, scrape down the sides of the blender.
Place two layers of cheesecloth over a bowl or large measuring cup. Pour the blended mixture into the cheesecloth.
Gather the cheesecloth around the pulp and squeeze to extract all the juice. This step might take a few minutes and it pays to get all that juice out.
Serve: Pour the strained juice into a glass. Enjoy immediately, or cover and refrigerate for about 3-4 days.
- If you are juicing for the week, I just bought these bottles to save my extra juice. I do not have a review on them, but they are highly rated so I am hopeful!
Tips for the Best Celery Juice:
- Use Organic Celery: Whenever possible, use organic celery to reduce pesticide exposure.
- Add Flavor: If the taste of pure celery is too strong, consider adding lemon or lime juice, sea salt, apple juice, cucumber juice, mint, parsley, ginger, turmeric, or cayenne pepper.
- Make it Kid Friendly: Kids don’t always love veggies and celery is one of those that very few kids enjoy. To customize this glass of juice to be more kid-friendly, add green apples, pineapple, watermelons, or pretty much anything sweeter than celery.
- Keep It Fresh: Store any leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Fresh juice is best consumed within three days, although you do get the most nutrition drinking it day one.
Health Benefits of Drinking Celery Juice:
While I absolutely LOVE drinking juice, no one really gets into juicing unless they are looking into benefits. Celery, after all, isn’t exactly a strawberry banana smoothie. But its worth adding to your diet for lots of reasons.
- Rich in Antioxidants: Celery contains antioxidants like apigenin and luteolin, which help reduce inflammation and may benefit various inflammatory conditions.
- Hydration: Highly hydrating and low in calories, this veggie is a great way to get some water in your system.
- Digestive Aid: Drinking on an empty stomach can help digestion and we all know that the gut is the key to the entire body!

Celery juice alone is not a weight-loss solution but can be part of a healthy diet. It is low in calories and can be a good alternative to drinking sweet tea or soda. Personally, celery juice reminds me of V8, but much lighter and fresher.
Celery Juice Recipe (Without a Juicer)
Equipment
- High Powered Blender Like a Vitamix or Ninja Foodi
Ingredients
- 1 stalk celery mine was about 1-1/2 lbs
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- 1/2 cup cold water
Instructions
- As a note, a "stalk" of celery is the entire bunch, not one piece. One piece of celery is called a rib.
- Wash the celery stalk and discard ends. Chop into 1" pieces and place into the blender. Add lime juice and water. Cover and blend until smooth. If necessary, scrape down the edges of the blender so all of the celery is incorporated.
- Place 2 layers of cheesecloth into a bowl or large measuring cup. Pour celery pulp into the cheesecloth and gently wrap the cloth around the pulp. Using your hands, squeeze all of the liquid out of the pulp. Take care to get out as much juice as possible. This can take a few minutes.
- When finished, remove the cheese cloth and discard the pulp into a compost bin.
- Pour celery juice into a glass and enjoy or cover and refrigerate until ready to drink.
