When it comes to viral recipes, there is nothing like having a 12-year-old and a 19-year-old keep you in the loop. From parmesan-crusted potatoes to million-dollar spaghetti, we try, taste, and test them all! And when this reported Shaq Ramen Recipe made it across our feeds, we just knew (as tiktok ramen connoisseurs) we had to see if this one was worth the make.

Now, as you probably know, Ramen is one of the most cost-effective after-school snacks. Feeding a 7th grader (or rather feeding himself) is pretty expensive. The phrase “eating you out of the house and home” is true during this 12+ age. The one thing I keep in my pantry to meet that appetite is lots of different ramen flavors.

Even though the noodles are plenty good on their own, finding new ramen recipes so Phoenyx can get inventive breaks up the routine and keeps cheap packaged noodles a staple in our house.

How spicy is Shin Ramen? This Koren ramen noodle brand is considered medium to high-level heat intensity, and because the spice packet contains red pepper powder, it may be considered hot for some palettes. If heat isn’t your thing, create your own ramen with brands that produce mild or chicken flavors.

Why is this called Shaq Ramen?

This ramen recipe went viral on tiktok as a recipe that Shaq himself makes. True or not true, we couldn’t really find the origin of how this rumor got started. Like Gigi Hadid pasta and Jennifer Anniston salad, sometimes a celebrity name attached to food runs through the ranks.

This recipe has also been altered and duplicated many times online, and we have seen a variety of ingredients shared, from butter to evaporated milk to shredded Parmesan cheese, broccoli, and even chicken!

The version we ultimately settled on to test was published by creator insta_noodles with the claim that this recipe “takes half the effort of Shaq ramen” and tastes very similar, so we were in. Here is the video:

What to serve with Ramen Noodles

Ramen noodles are usually a meal in themselves, but if you want a side dish or other food to complement them, try rice, spicy vegetables like this Asian spiral salad, kimchee or Asian cabbage salad, or even a skewer of tempura chicken for some added protein.
