Lipton is no stranger to chicken, and it is a common combination for homemade chicken noodle soups and other slow-cooker chicken recipes.
However, we first saw this full meal with green beans, mini potatoes, and chicken appear on TikTok Recipes by creator @caleydawkins. She said, “I love a good crock pot dump recipe, so I want to show you what’s for dinner tonight.”

Would we make this TikTok Lipton Chicken again?
Yes! It was a delicious comfort meal the entire family loved.
I was skeptical; why would we put the beans on only half the side of the crock pot? It seemed like we should do potatoes all across the bottom, so they are closer to the broth, and then beans all across the top, but it tasted fine.
The beans do get a little mushy, but not horrible. I believe that is expected when you use canned beans in a slow cooker. The chicken fell apart; it was fantastic and juicy.
Expert Tips and Tricks
It’s easy to be worried about kitchen appliances left on all day, but crock pots are MEANT to be left on all day.
While this dish is less like French Onion Chicken with the added potatoes and green beans, it’s OK to cook the chicken with yellow onion and a can of French Onion Soup to get more of that taste.
This slow cooker dish has all the side dishes built right in but serve it with a side of crusty bread and butter if you like.
You won’t need to serve this dish on top of anything, but if you want to, suggestions are egg noodles, cauliflower rice, or brown rice.

I made this last night and it was very EZ and good. I used 4 B/S chicken thighs in a 4 quart cooker. I only used 1 pack of onion soup mix. I sprinkled half on the chicken and then the other half on top of everything else. I had one cup of frozen home made chicken broth which I used. I did not have baby potatoes but used 3 large russet potatoes peeled and cubed in smaller size cubes. I cooked it on low and it was done within 6 hours. This was very EZ and tasty!
Question:can fresh or frozen green beans be used instead of canned?
Faye, While I havent done it in this recipe, I think either would be fine. Frozen will add a little bit of extra water content to your dish (so you can choose to leave out a little of the chicken broth) and with fresh, its a little trickier because they need to steam. I say this more with caution as I havent tested it, but if I were to try it myself, I would trim the ends and cut them in half, add a little EXTRA broth to help steam the fresh green beans and add.
While these are suggestions, please note that I havent personally tested this recipe this way but as a home cook, that is how I would handle it and dont see any major red flags.

I had high hopes for this recipe because of all the stars. No one in my family liked it. It was very salty and just lacked in flavor. To each their own🤷♀️.
Hi Emily, yes you are right, each person has their own taste buds. Premade spices/packets like this can be high in sodium and flavor. Thats the great thing about recipes is finding what works for you. Thank you for testing it out and I appreciate your thoughts.
Can I use can green beans and do I drain them first?
I dont see why not and yes I would drain them. Because they are already cooked, I wouldnt add them till the last 40 minutes or so.
The chicken was good but the green beans and potatoes were mush. Unfortunately, would not recommend this recipe.
Megan, thanks for your feedback. Its not my recipe (as noted its one we tried out). If you liked the flavor and it was just the texture of the green beans and potatoes for you, what I would recommend is putting them in later in the recipe. If you like a firm potato, it may need about 2 hours on high and canned green beans really only need to warm, so maybe an hour before pulling off add them. I hope that helps!
This is a great recipe to try! Chicken was moist and flavorful. Green beans and potatoes were cooked perfectly. Will definitely make this again. I also liked everything cooking in one crockpot. Less pots to wash!!
We loved this dinner. I did make a couple of changes to it. I didn’t add any salt. I added garlic and onion powder and pepper to the chicken. I added fresh green beans and potatoes. One cup of water with some chicken bouillon. And one package of soup mix.
