What other kinds of Beef can I use?

I love to use real sirloin and dice it down to bite sized pieces. After all, its a dip and it has to be able to be eaten in one bite. That being said if you are decent in the kitchen, you could use thin sliced roast beef, thin sliced steak, or even pre-packaged beef like Steak-umms.

This isn’t a real Philly cheesesteak– I know. People from Philly get serious defensive when you mess with a traditional cheese steak sandwich.

This is just a dip interpretation loaded with delicious goodies to really fill you up. NO matter what you call it, this cheese steak dip, with the diced beef and creamy cheeses, is GOOD.

Perfect for football, parties, New Years…and honestly its so hearty that you could make it up and serve as dinner with some tortillas.

I don’t like “fill in listed vegetable” here – what can I substitute with: This loaded dip recipe can really take variations quite well.

You can add jalapenos, more diced green peppers, pepperonchini peppers,  green onions, even a can of Rotel drained tomatoes if you like.

If you find yourself dialing this cheese steak recipe down to just the basics- meet and cheese- you may need to add another block of cream cheese to fill in the blanks.

Cheese it up:

I like how cream cheese and mozzarella fold in together, but feel free to change the cheese for provolone or other mixed cheeses.

Serve this easy cheesy filling and delicious hot cheese steak dip with

  • Melba toast
  • Baguette slices
  • Pretzel Chips
  • Homemade Tortillas
  • On a Baked Potato
  • Keep it Keto & Low Carb: Serve with slices of green peppers or stuffed in lettuce wraps

NOTE ON BEEF: Prepping for this recipe- you will note that I said COOKED beef sirloin.

I had sirloin left over from another recipe and used it right in this dish. If your beef is not cooked, you can add it right in the second step with butter and veggies to cook it up medium before moving on.

Dip Directions if your Beef is Uncooked

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.

Add butter, green and red pepper, diced beef, onion and mushrooms to a large skillet.

Heat over medium high heat for 3-5 minutes or until onions are tender and beef is cooked.

Add a pinch of cayenne pepper and season with salt and pepper.

Stir in cream cheese and heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until cheese is all melted.

Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese.

Spoon into prepared pan and sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons cheese.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is browned.
