What is Big Mac Sauce?

Big Mac sauce is a special sauce from McDonald’s that tops its hamburgers!

This dressing is creamy, delicious, and a big secret. There is a lot of speculation that the sauce includes Ketchup or Thousand Island dressing due to the color, but it doesn’t (according to McDonald’s). The color actually comes from Paprika!

Below you will find a copycat recipe, and while no one is sure of the exact ingredients, this recipe will bring the taste close for the at-home cook.

Sauce ingredients:

  • Add mayonnaise to a mixing bowl.
  • Add sweet relish, mustard, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and pickle juice to a bowl and mix well.

  1. I haven’t had a big mac for about 40 years. I never eat a McDonald’s. So basically it’s a hamburger pizza. I eat at in-and-out and they have a sauce also. I do like your sauce. Most hamburgers have tomatoes so I think I will try that next time.
    Thanks for the recipe!

I always think tomatoes are a great choice! This particular burger doesn’t have them so we left them off but in regular life, great to add.

  2. Substitute dehydrated onions for the fresh onions on this and it is more spot on! Take an amount of dehydrated onions and rehydrate them with water for a few minutes and spread them on the pizza. Just like a Big Mac!
